With an innate love for the arts, passion to perform and drive to teach others, Dr. Dunwoody Mirvil is a world-traveled and well-versed trombonist from Miami, Fla. For nearly 20 years, he has honed his skills as an instrumentalist and educator, performing with various ensembles and sharing his knowledge of the trombone with musicians of all skill levels.
Maila can be heard on saxophonist Joren Cain’s CD Voices of Dissent and on clarinetist Linda Cionitti’s CD Jag & Jersey.MusicWeb International selected Jag & Jersey as the recording of the month for February 2010. The composition E-Type Jag,performed by Linda and Maila, was considered for the 2010 Grammy nomination. She has performed with musicians on the artist roster of Buffet Crampon, Leblanc, Yamaha, Getzen, and Columbia Artists Management Inc. (CAMI), and with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, and Montreal Symphony Orchestra. She has also worked with cellist Yo-Yo Ma, violist Susan Dubois, and singer/actor Taye Diggs. Maila has an active performance schedule as a member of the Maharlika Trio, a group dedicated to commissioning and performing new works for saxophone, trombone and piano.
