Dreamboat Presents: Laura Jaramillo, Liz Robbins, Andres Rojas, and Brian Luckett

Please join us for Dreamboat Reading Series, a UNF-sponsored event series that combines poetry and music performances at the historic Friday Musicale. Dreamboat is co-organized by poets / editors / educators Dorsey Craft and Jessica Q. Stark, and features both local and visiting poets along with featured music performance. Featured poets for February are Laura Jaramillo, Liz Robbins, and Andres Rojas, and Brian Luckett performs solo guitar (flamenco / classical).
POETS
Laura Jaramillo is a poet and critic from Queens, New York living in Durham, North Carolina. Her books include Material Girl (subpress, 2012) and Making Water (Futurepoem, 2022). She holds a PhD in critical theory from Duke University. She co-runs the North Carolina-based reading and performance series Paradiso.
Liz Robbins’ fourth collection, Night Swimming, won the Cold Mountain Press Annual Book Contest (Appalachian State U) and is forthcoming in 2023. Her second chapbook, Fire Carousel, is on the theme of mental illness and written with Virginia Chase Sutton, Lauren Tivey, and Airea Johnson, with photographs by Nikole Tucker (forthcoming in 2023 from Main Street Rag Press). Her third collection, Freaked, won the Elixir Press Annual Poetry Award, judged by Bruce Bond; her second collection, Play Button, won the Cider Press Review Book Award, judged by Patricia Smith. Her first collection is Hope, As the World Is a Scorpion Fish (U Nebraska), and her chapbook, Girls Turned Like Dials, won the 8th Annual YellowJacket Press Prize. Her poems have appeared in Adroit Journal, Beloit Poetry Journal, BOAAT, Denver Quarterly, Kenyon Review, and Garrison Keillor’s The Writer’s Almanac; her poems are in recent or forthcoming issues of Cimarron Review, Five Points, The Missouri Review, The Penn Review, and Rattle. She received a Pushcart nomination from Fugue, and has judged contests for Elixir Press, Ploughshares, and New Ohio Review. She lives in St. Augustine, Florida, and works as a poetry screener for Ploughshares
Andres Rojas is the author of two poetry chapbooks and a full-length book, Third Winter in Our Second Country. His poetry has been featured in the Best New Poets anthology and has appeared in, among others, AGNI, Barrow Street, Colorado Review, Diode Poetry Journal, Massachusetts Review, New England Review, and Poetry Northwest.
MUSIC
Classical guitarist and university professor Brian Luckett has performed in solo and chamber music recitals throughout the United States. Recent highlights include performances with I Cantori vocal ensemble, the Georgia Southern Symphony and voice and guitar programs with baritone Allen Henderson and soprano Emily Grundstad-Hall. Brian has been featured in many programs on NPR, Minnesota Public Radio and WABE in Atlanta. He has premiered several new works for the guitar including a concerto and several large chamber works. For the last decade his work has focused on exploring flamenco guitar, bringing his own voice to the traditional Spanish genre.
