ABOUT FRIDAY MUSICALE
135 years of gathering a city around music
Founded in 1890, Friday Musicale is one of the nation's longest-running music organizations and a home for culture in Jacksonville's Riverside neighborhood.
Our history
Friday Musicale began in 1890 as a small group of talented musicians (the Ladies’ Friday Musicale). The organization grew alongside Jacksonville itself, and today its home is a three-building campus in Riverside, hosting concerts, classes, and other community events.
At the center is the Concert Hall, a 200-seat room that sets a grand stage for a wide variety of amazing performances. Alongside it stands L’Engle Hall — soon to be the Blue Room at Friday Musicale — and the Artist Cottage.
Our mission
To cultivate a home for music and membership in the historic Riverside Arts neighborhood of Jacksonville.
In practice, the mission shows up as a deliberately wide mix of programming: free community events, member gatherings, and public concerts, so that music at Friday Musicale is something the whole city can reach.
